Add Member Group
|
Press the folder icon to create a new member group.
When the edit box appears in the member group list accept the default member
group name or enter a new member group name then hit the Enter key.
|
Delete Member Group
|
Delete a member group by highlighting the member
group name in the list and press the Delete (X) button
|
Draw all groups
|
Check this box to draw all member groups in the
graphic window.
|
Save DGN
|
Press this button to export all member group
geometry to a MicroStation .dgn file. Save the .dgn file to the desired
location and once the export is complete you can browse to the file location
and open/view it in MicroStation.
|
Back Reference
|
Select the back reference support for the member
group from the dropdown list. The back reference is the one with the lowest
station value.
|
Ahead Reference
|
Select the ahead reference support for the member
group from the dropdown list. The ahead reference is the one with the highest
station value.
|
Copy From
|
This command will become active if another member
group is already defined. To copy the member group definition from an existing
member group to a new member group, select the existing member group from the
drop down list.
|
Number of Members
|
Enter the number of members in the member group. By
default LEAP Bridge Steel will display the member centerlines in the graphic
window, showing the left and right fascia members located at the slab edges and
interior members equally spaced.
|
Path
|
There are three path options:
- Concentric to
align: This option will orient members parallel to a straight alignment or
concentric to a curved alignment. Use this option for a curved girder layout.
- Independent: This
option will allow the girder spacing to be varied at the ahead and back
supports. When this option is selected the Back Location data fields/options in
the Property/Value grid will become active. Use this option to define the
flared girder arrangements.
- Custom beam path:
This option will allow selection of geometry elements from the "Candidate Beam
Paths" command as beam paths.
|
Member Type
|
Use this dropdown list to select the member type.
I-Girder and Tub-Girder are currently active.
|
Save DGN
|
The following button will export the Member Groups
2D model directly and accurately to Microstation DGN file format, including
layers. Save the DGN file in the desired location and once the export is
successful you can browse to file location and open/view in Microstation.

There are two options:
- Select
Left edge of slab as the reference location for the fascia member.
- Select
Alignment as the reference location for the fascia member.
|
|
Direction
|
There are two options:
-
Perpendicular to reference: select this option if the offset distance is
measured perpendicular to the reference.
- Along
support: select this option if the offset distance is measured along the
support line.
|
|
Offset
|
Enter the offset
distance to locate the fascia member from the selected reference.
For Tub Girders, offset distance is measured from and
to centerline of the girder
|
Interior Members
|
|
Locate the members
between the two fascia members. It is recommended to locate the left and right
fascia members before the interior members.
|
|
Spacing Type
|
There are two options
for spacing type:
- Equally
spaced: select this option if the interior members are to be equally spaced
between the fascia members. LEAP Bridge Steel will automatically calculate the
spacing and show it in the spacing field.
-
Independent: select this option to enter the interior member spacing. When this
option is selected the Spacing field will become active.
|
|
Spacing
|
This field will show
the automatically computed spacing if the spacing type is set to Equally space.
If the Spacing type is set to Independent the Spacing field will become active.
Press the … button to activate the spacing dialog and enter the desired
spacing. Note that the spacing values are measured along the support line.
For Tub Girders, spacing distance is measured from
and to centerline of the girder.
